4Kids looks forward to Chaotic Mipcom

A new high-definition animated action-adventure toon is to be unveiled at Mipcom next month, courtesy of rights holder 4Kids Entertainment and production partner Bardel Entertainment.

Chaotic (40×30′, left) premieres on the 4Kids TV Saturday morning programming block (fka Fox Box) on the Fox network in the US in late September, according to Brian Lacey, executive VP of international at New York-based 4Kids.

Describing the new property, Lacey likened it to another of 4Kids’ big shows, Pokemon. “Chaotic combines the best qualities of Pokémon – stories with heart and attitude that feature a collectible appeal for kids – and Yu-Gi-Oh! – stories that build upon a compelling trading card game,” he noted.

The new toon takes the trading card theme from previous kids series and movies it into the online space. Each Chaotic card has its own unique code, and they allow players and collectors to battle and trade cards in their physical and online worlds.

4Kids commissioned Vancouver-based animation company Bardel to produce the series in high-definition format. 4Kids has exclusive rights to represent Chaotic worldwide across broadcast, home video, music and merchandise licensing.
