Toronto’s queer community is terrorized to its core when a growing number of gay men - most of them men of colour - begin to disappear. Labeled “missing”, these men were actually murdered by a member of their own community, serial murderer Bruce McArthur. Each time a man goes missing, Police launch investigations however McArthur manages to slip from their grasp and return to killing.

KILLER IN THE VILLAGE takes audiences deep inside the baffling disappearances, the brutal murders, and the extensive police investigations while examining how sexuality, closeting, and marginalized isolation mixed conveniently with McArthur’s deadly charm and seduction led to the tragic deaths of the victims. The film examines the police’s procedural fumbles, and the clues and tips that lead to the eventual arrest of McArthur and the digging up of remains he hid in plain sight.
