VIP 2000 TV, Zee Content Sales to coproduce Mexican adaptation of Indian telenovela

Zee Content Sales, the international sales division of India’s Zee Entertainment, and Latin American production company VIP 2000 TV are to coproduce a Mexican telenovela called Valentina, mi amor especial (Valentina, My Special Love)

The show is currently in pre-production, with plans to begin shooting on July 1 in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Based on the 2009 Indian telenovela Aapki Antara, Valentina will be the first coproduction of a telenovela between India and Latin America, a milestone for both companies.

For VIP 2000 TV, however, this will not be its first collaboration with an Indian company, having announced earlier this year an alliance with GoQuest Media and Turkey’s Stellar Yapim to coproduce the Turkish drama The Other Wife.

Valentina revolves around a love story about a young woman with autism who is also a genius in the tech world.

“We are thrilled to begin this first coproduction with Zee TV on this unique IP. Valentina, mi amor especial is not just a telenovela, it is a catalyst for understanding and acceptance,” commented Roxana Rotundo, CEO of VIP 2000 TV.

Ashok Namboodiri, business director of Zee International, added: “Our local adaptations in different international markets have been very successful for global audiences. This is a unique story that will resonate not only with the more than 600 million Spanish speakers, but will also travel to other parts of the world as a format.”

Beyond The Other Wife, VIP 2000 TV has been establishing several coproduction alliances in the market. They include Christmas movies for Lifetime with Yahayra Films, with which they also produced the two seasons of the telenovela Mujeres que engañan, as well as a series of biographical films with Yahayra Films and We Love Entertainment.
