Under the pact, Wheelhouse will partner with Miami-based Grutman and DGN Studios to produce projects across entertainment, food, lifestyle and sports, in addition to jointly investing in brands and IP in the food and hospitality industries.

DGN Studios is currently in production on projects including the recently commissioned Netflix reality series starring Alix Earle.

In addition to DGN Studios, Grutman also owns Groot Hospitality and is the co-owner and creative director of athletics brand Prince. His first book, Take It Personal, is also set to be released in April.

Wheelhouse’s portfolio of production labels includes Wheelhouse Studios, Spoke Studios, Campfire Studios, Butternut and Twist, while it also has partnerships with basketball star Anthony Edwards, tennis player Ben Shelton and celebrity chef David Chang.

“Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart, and David has taken some of the biggest swings in some of the riskiest arenas, culinary and nightlife among them,” said Wheelhouse CEO Brent Montgomery.

“Those spaces demand impeccable quality, instinct and the ability to create environments everyone wants to be a part of. David embodies that rare combination and we’re eager to build something unique together.”
