HGTV lines up ’90s celebs for throwback home renovation series, YouTube show

HGTV in the US has commissioned a 1990s-inspired home renovation series in which celebrities from the decade modernise dated spaces while preserving their nostalgic charm, plus a YouTube companion show.

Celebrity home renovation series Totally ’90s House

Six-episode renovation competition Totally ’90s House will be hosted by actor, producer and gameshow host Jaleel White (Family Matters) and will follow two celeb teams as they scour the country for houses stuck in the 1990s.

They will then be tasked with renovating them to create the ideal ’90s-inspired dream home to win bragging rights and US$25,000 for their chosen charity.

Among the celebs taking part are Brian Austin Green, Beverley Mitchell, Jodie Sweetin, Melissa Joan Hart, Matthew Lawrence, Keshia Knight Pulliam and Joey Lawrence, alongside design experts Carter Oosterhouse (Carter Can) and Sabrina Soto (The High Low Project).

Produced by Big Table Media, it will premiere on August 26 on Warner Bros Discovery-owned HGTV alongside House Call: ’90s Edition (working title), a six-part YouTube companion series that will take viewers inside the homes of celebrities from that decade.

White said: “Everybody loves the ’90s again. The fits are back, the playlists are on repeat, and kids who weren’t even born yet are binge-watching the shows we made famous.

“But while some things from the ’90s are timeless… some of y’all never got the memo that the decade ended. We asked America to show us the homes still living in the past, and the response was incredible. Now it’s time for the ultimate throwback transformation.”
