Fox Entertainment Studios (FES) has signed a multi-faceted development deal with US actor, producer and director Tracee Ellis Ross and her production banner Joy Mill Entertainment.

The multi-year pact includes a first-look deal covering scripted shows and an overall deal covering unscripted and reality formats, with Ellis Ross set to serve as executive producer and “creative originator” on projects emanating from the partnership.

Adriana Ambriz, who has been the head of development at Joy Mill Entertainment since 2020, will continue in her position and play a key role in the deal.

Ellis Ross is best known for starring in the ABC dramedy Black-ish, which ran for eight seasons, and also executive produced and starred in the spin-off Mixed-ish. Earlier in her career, she appeared in the UPN sitcom Girlfriends.

“Tracee is a singular force, creative, purposeful and culturally undeniable,” said FES’s head of scripted Hannah Pillemer and head of unscripted Allison Wallach.

“Her instincts, curiosity and drive make her an exceptionally creative and prolific partner. We’re excited to team up with Tracee and Joy Mill Entertainment to create work that inspires, entertains and reflects the world through their distinctly authentic lens.”
