Dungey named chairman at Warner Bros

Former Netflix executive Channing Dungey has been named chairman of Warner Bros Television Group, succeeding studio veteran Peter Roth, who announced his departure last week.

Dungey will start her tenure at the studio early next year, when Roth steps down, and will oversee the Warner Bros TV Group and its operating divisions. She will report to Ann Sarnoff, chair and CEO of WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group.

Having left her role as VP of original series for Netflix after just under two years earlier this month, Dungey had been linked to a new post at Warner Bros following Susan Rovner’s departure to NBCUniversal.

Prior to joining Netflix, Dungey served as president of ABC Entertainment. In this role, she had oversight of all development, programming, marketing and scheduling operations for ABC primetime and late night.

“This is a homecoming of sorts for Channing, who was a production executive at Warner Bros early in her career, and we’re excited to have her rejoin the studio,” said Sarnoff.
