Beta collects rights to Indigo Film’s Italian saga about Panini sticker empire

The Panini Family: Album of Dreams follows the story from 1940

Germany’s Beta Film has acquired the international distribution rights to a Rai drama about the true story of the family behind Italy’s famous Panini sticker empire.

The Panini Family: Album of Dreams (6×60′) chronicles how the family built a global phenomenon that captivated generations.

The show is produced by Indigo Film, the production house behind international shows such as The Bad Guy, in collaboration with Rai Fiction, the scripted arm of the Italian public broadcaster.

It is directed by Letizia Lamartire (The Law According to Lidia Poët) and tells a story across three decades, starting in Italy in 1940 as the Panini family decide to invest in collectible stickers, which become a worldwide phenomenon during the 1970 World Cup.

The series stars Serena Rossi, who plays Olga Panini, the family matriarch and emotional centre of the story.

The cast also includes Simone Liberati, Benedetta Cimatti, Federico Cesari, Luca di Sessa and Samuele Teneggi with Edoardo Pesce and Barbora Bobulova.

The production has the support of Sanfelice 1893 Banca Popolare, Ministero della Cultura – Fund for the Development of Investments in Film and Audiovisual Works and the Emilia-Romagna Region through the Emilia-Romagna Film Commission, Comune di Modena, Fondazione di Modena and Camera di Commercio di Modena.
