Netflix acquires Australian live-action children’s series Caper Crew

Caper Crew will be available on Netflix in more than 190 territories

Netflix has taken global rights, excluding Australia, to Aussie live-action kids’ comedy series Caper Crew.

Produced by Easy Tiger for Australian pubcaster the ABC, where it premiered earlier this year, Caper Crew follows two siblings whose lives are suddenly upended when their glamorous con-artist grandmother mysteriously appears on their doorstep.

The Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF) holds the distribution rights to the series, with the ABC holding the Australian rights.

Netflix will launch Caper Crew in more than 190 territories. It follows previous Aussie series picked up by the streamer such as The Inbestigators, Little Lunch, Surviving Summer and H20: Just Add Water.

According to the ACTF, 10 of the top 20 Australian programmes on the latest Netflix Global Engagement Report were children’s series.

Amanda Duthie, Netflix ANZ content director, said: “Caper Crew has all the wit, warmth and mischief that Australian children’s series do so well, and we can’t wait for kids and families around the world to discover it on Netflix.”
