Zinc says the launch of Electric Violet is part of an ongoing diversification strategy, aimed at broadening its content production range and strengthening its position in the global media landscape.
Hamilton will lead the firm having previously exec produced entertainment formats including Strictly Come Dancing, The Voice and So You Think You Can Dance.
A former commissioning editor at pay TV broadcaster Sky, Hamilton launched UK prodco OM TV with China’s 3C Media in 2016 and served as the company’s CEO.
She departed that business in 2019 to team up with talent agency Modest! Management to launch TV production company ModestTV where she has been chief creative officer for the last five years.
Hamilton said: “The Zinc team has such a positive vision, and the trajectory of the group is truly impressive. Entertainment, like everything, is experiencing substantial change and I’m excited to be part of creating a new wave of uplifting entertainment, full of emotion, and warm, honest storytelling, for a global marketplace.”
Zinc Media is made up of companies including current affairs and investigative journalism specialist Brook Lapping, specialist factual prodcos Atomic and Red Sauce, nations and regions firm Tern TV and popular factual producer Rex. Last week it acquired a majority stake in Police Interceptors producer Raw Cut.
Tanya Shaw, Zinc’s MD of TV, said, “We are excited to announce the addition of Electric Violet to our TV portfolio, which already includes Atomic, Brook Lapping, Rex, Red Sauce, Supercollider & Tern TV. This strategic move not only enhances our content offerings but also enables us to explore new creative territories and deliver dynamic content to our audiences.”
