VGTV commissions Norwegian version of Love Island

Love Island is heading to Norway

Ad-supported online channel VGTV has commissioned ITV Studios Norway to produce a new version of international reality dating format Love Island.

Filming of Love Island Norway is planned for early autumn 2026, with a premiere in winter 2027. Casting is already underway.

In addition to the new Norwegian version, from 2027 VG will become the Norwegian home of several international versions of the format including Love Island UK, Love Island All Stars, Love Island USA, and Love Island Australia.

Love Island Norge originally debuted in Norway on TV3 in 2018 and later moved to TV2, shooting four seasons up to 2025.

“Love Island is one of the strongest formats out there for a young audience – and a show that audiences are deeply engaged in. That’s why we’re going all in. This will be VGTV’s most ambitious and high-end production ever, with all the elements audiences expect” says VGTV programme director Martin Jøndahl.

Love Island is a Lifted Entertainment, part of ITV Studios, and Motion Entertainment, a WPP Media company, format. ITV Studios handles international distribution.
