TF1, Banijay bring back Star Academy format after almost a decade

Competition format Star Academy has sold to 19 territories

TF1 in France and Banijay-owned Endemol France are bringing back entertainment competition format Star Academy after nine years.

Endemol France has called on DMLS TV – another label within Banijay – to produce the series, which will air in a daily slot on TF1.

Fronted by original host Nikos Aliagas, the show will once again follow hopefuls at a musical academy in France, where their singing, dancing and acting skills will be put to the test. It is then up to a panel of judges and the viewers to decide who stays and who goes.

Originally created by Endemol France, Star Academy has sold to 19 territories, including Italy and the Middle East, where 11 seasons have aired. It most recently made a return to French-speaking Canada.
