Hosted by food personality Adam Liaw and much loved screen performer Pia Miranda, this uplifting new competition format sees home cooks from different backgrounds and walks of life whisk together the flavours, histories and stories behind the dishes that define them, in a quest to crown Australia’s ‘Recipe of the Year’.

At the heart of the Australian format is the Country Women’s Association, bringing generations of cooking knowledge, tradition and community to the competition.

Starting with twenty talented home cooks, each episode puts great home cooking to the test across three distinct challenges: ‘Blue Ribbon’, where cooks showcase personality and instinct; ‘Gold Standard’, where they faithfully reproduce a much-loved national classic; and ‘Feature Recipe’, where they create an original dish inspired by the episode theme.

By the finale, the remaining home cooks must create a recipe they believe is truly worth keeping and sharing – with the winner awarded the ‘Recipe of the Year’ crown.

Set against a stunning country farm backdrop, Recipe of the Year combines the warm, feel-good appeal of The Great British Bake Off with the competitive drive of MasterChef – but without professional chefs or manufactured drama. Instead, there are great home cooks, accessible and achievable recipes, and the warmth, humour and stories that emerge when people come together around food.
