Taiwan content agency Taicca signs MoU with Korea’s BA Entertainment

Sue Wang and Jang Won-seok signed the MoU to deepen Taiwan-Korea collaboration

The Taiwan Creative Content Agency (Taicca) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with South Korean production company BA Entertainment to deepen Taiwan-Korea collaboration in film and television.

Taicca chairperson Sue Wang and Jang Won-seok (aka Billy Acumen), CEO of BA Entertainment, said the aim of the partnership is to pursue collaboration in talent development, financing and investment matchmaking, coproduction and international distribution.

Part of JoongAng-owned Korean studio group SLL, BA Entertainment specialises in genre-driven storytelling and real-event adaptations. Its credits include film franchise The Roundup and The Gangster, the Cop & the Devil, as well as series Big Bet (Disney+), Revenant (SBS) and the hit webtoon adaptation Taxi Driver (SBS/Wavve).

The Taicca MoU includes two Taiwanese companies as partners in the agreement. Taipei-based 1 Production Film Company has credits including Gatao: Like Father Like Son, Detention and Monga, and Money Entertainment Investment Company has over 30 years of experience in investment and IP integration, Taicca said.

The MoU comes as Taicca puts South Korean content centre stage at its forthcoming conference and market Taiwan Creative Content Fest in Taipei next month. South Korea is set to be the primary international partner, marking a massive wave of cross-border entertainment collaboration, backed by the US$30m Taiwan-Korea Entertainment & Cultural Content Fund.

This year’s event highlights a surge in Taiwan-Korea coproductions and high-profile regional delegations featuring the likes of CJ ENM, KBS Media, MBC and SLL in a prominent national pavilion.

Among the headline projects being pitched and showcased at the event are a Taiwanese adaptation of the hit Korean series Taxi Driver and a romantic comedy venture titled My Cringe Love Notebook, from CJ ENM and Yoosonn Entertainment.
