Studio Dragon to produce Korean version of Nippon TV drama Life’s Punchline

Life’s Punchline centres on a comedy trio who decide to disband

Korean production company Studio Dragon, a division of CJ ENM, is developing a local-language adaptation of Japanese drama series Life’s Punchline.

It marks the second international version of the series, which is also being adapted in Hong Kong by prodco MakerVille for ViuTV.

Originally broadcast in Japan by entertainment giant Nippon TV, which owns the rights to the drama, Life’s Punchline follows a comedy trio who decide to disband after 10 years of unsuccessfully chasing stardom.

Their story intertwines with that of their biggest fan, a young woman working at a diner. Once an elite professional, she fell into despair after burning out and now lives with her younger sister. As the sisters draw hope from the trio’s performances, all five discover the courage to start over.
