SkyShowtime to follow A Recipe for Murder as José Gómez promises to uncover truth behind surgeon’s killing

A Recipe for Murder makes its debut on SkyShowtime next month

SkyShowtime is gearing up to launch a five-part Spanish-language documentary series about the murder of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta at the hands of YouTube chef Daniel Sancho.

A Recipe for Murder (5×30′) will premiere exclusively on the European streaming platform on February 23, having been directed by filmmaker José Gómez and produced by Get Me Out Productions.

The docuseries chronicles the violent killing of Arrieta on a tranquil Thai island by Sancho, a 29-year-old aspiring chef known for his YouTube videos.

Sancho, the son of one of Spain’s most well-known actors, Rodolfo Sancho, was tried and convicted to life imprisonment in a Thai court last summer.

In spite of the trial being covered extensively by the world’s media, mystery still surrounds the case. The series explores the questions that remain about Arrieta and Sancho’s relationship and also the double life led by each man.

It is the latest addition to SkyShowtime’s growing portfolio of original programming, with 30 SkyShowtime originals to be made available to subscribers in more than 20 markets by the end of 2025.

In related news, SkyShowtime is lining up new comedy series Nails, which has started production. The upcoming SkyShowtime Original series is the third locally commissioned original in Spain and will be shot between Madrid and Bilbao.

Nails is produced by Federation Spain in association with SkyShowtime and US-based Telemundo Studios. The series is created by Araceli Álvarez de Sotomayor, who is also writer and director. She and Mario Montero serve as creative exec producers; and Laura Oliva, Nacho Manubens and Juan Solá are exec producers.

The show tells the story of four women from different backgrounds and of different ages who meet in a nail salon. They spark a unique friendship, turning them into partners in crime.

The cast includes Cristina Castaño (Toy Boy), Marimar Vega (Las Trampas del Deseo), Gracia Olayo (La Mesías), Teresa Cuesta (Machos Alfa), Fernando Tejero (La que se Avecina), Javier Antón (Vaya Semanita), Juanjo Cucalón (Amar es Para Siempre) and Raúl Mérida (Regreso a Las Sabinas).
