Shahid takes on Tony Jordan drama

Rashash follows the long hunt for a Saudi murderer and drug trafficker

MBC Group-owned Arabic-language streaming service Shahid VIP is launching a drama series based on the true story of a notorious criminal in 1980s Saudi Arabia.

Produced by MBC Studios and created by British screenwriter Tony Jordan (EastEnders, Hustle, Life on Mars), Rashash tells the story of the eponymous murderer and drug trafficker and the Saudi police’s efforts to bring him to justice.

The 8×60’ series features exclusive tales from the archives of the long-running criminal investigation which eventually came to a close when Rashash was finally caught by police in the late 1980s.

Written by Sheikha Suha Al Khalifa and Richard Bellamy, Rashash is in Saudi Arabic with English subtitles. Launching later this month, each episode will be released on a weekly basis.

Collin Teague (Holby City, Torchwood, Doctor Who) directs the series, which features an all-Saudi cast.
