Amazon streamer Prime Video has commissioned an original four-part drama out of Sweden, based on the debut novel by Ulf Kvensler.

Sarek is a psychological thriller set against the vast and unforgiving landscape of Sweden’s Sarek National Park, where a hiking trip for a group of friends takes a dangerous turn. It is expected to premiere exclusively on Prime Video across the Nordics in 2027.

The series stars Felix Sandman (Quicksand), Kitt Walker Johansson (Burden of Justice), Alva Bratt (Barracuda Queens) and Nora Rios (Caliphate).

Måns Herngren (The Restaurant, Adam & Eva) is the series’ conceptualising director and head script writer, while the co-writers are Amanda Högberg (Diary of a Ditched Girl, Deliver Me) and Axel Stjärne (End of Summer). Henrik Björn (Jordskott) directs one episode.

The series is in pre-production with principal photography set to begin at the end of July in Sweden. The four-part series is produced by Jarowskij/Yellow Bird, part of Banijay Entertainment, and Amazon MGM Studios. Filmpool Nord is coproducing while Maida Krak serves as producer and Elin Kvist as executive producer.
