Paramount+ orders Canadian version of MTV reality format Jersey Shore

Paramount+ in Canada has commissioned a local version of Jersey Shore

Paramount+ in Canada has commissioned a local version of MTV’s hard-partying reality franchise Jersey Shore.

Canada Shore (working title) is being produced by Toronto-based production company Insight Productions and will shoot this summer.

A nationwide casting call has now been opened, with Paramount+ saying it is looking for 10 “fresh-faced, unapologetically wild Canadian singletons who embody the ‘Shores’ spirit. As with other versions of the format, it will follow the lives and drama of a group of singles who live together for the summer.

The Shore franchise began in 2009 with Jersey Shore and has since spawned almost 20 international adaptations, including the UK’s Geordie Shore, which has run for 25 seasons and counting on MTV UK, and more recent additions Aussie Shore and Frenchie Shore.

Paramount+ in Canada already carries the Australian and French iterations of the show, in addition to all seasons of Jersey Shore and spin-off Jersey Shore Family Vacation.

“We are incredibly proud of how the ‘Shores’ franchise continues to expand around the world,” said Kelly Bradshaw, executive VP of MTV Entertainment Group.

“Each new series is a testament to this tried-and-true format’s global appeal, inviting new, local viewers into the ‘Shores’ universe whilst enticing long-standing fans back for a fresh take on it.”
