The series is set to premiere on NBCUniversal-owned US streamer Peacock, which gave the project a straight-to-series greenlight last summer.

Created and executive produced by Bill Dubuque (Ozark), M.I.A. centres on a young woman entrenched in her family’s Miami-based drug-running enterprise. When the family business comes under threat, she is forced into an unexpected and dangerous new path.

Karen Campbell (Raised by Wolves) serves as showrunner and executive producer, while Alethea Jones will direct the first two episodes and also joins the executive production team. The series features an ensemble cast including Shannon Gisela, Dylan Jackson, Brittany Adebumola, Cary Elwes, Alberto Guerra, Gerardo Celasco, Maurice Compte, Marta Milans and Danay Garcia.

M.I.A. extends the ongoing partnership between Paramount Global Content Distribution and MRC, a collaboration that has previously seen global success with series such as The Great and Poker Face. MRC remains one of the industry’s leading independent studios, with a portfolio that includes Ozark, Ted, House of Cards and The Terminal List.

The series represents a continued investment in bold, internationally resonant storytelling, with Paramount positioning M.I.A. as a key title for global acquisition in 2025.
