In 1983, in the remote cove of Cala Montjoi along the Costa Brava, a young, inexperienced Ferran Adrià stumbles into the kitchens of elBulli, led by French chef Jean Paul Vinay and managed by the charismatic Juli Soler.
It’s here, in a chaotic yet vibrant restaurant, that he’s fortunate enough to find a temporary job that ignites the start of a gastronomic revolution that will change his life – and the world of cuisine – forever.
Fast forward to 2025, we meet Gloria Canabach, a revered former food critic and journalist. Back from New York, due to the death of her father, she reconnects with her niece Lola, and together they decide to re-open the family restaurant, Can Canabach.
However, can Gloria and Lola get over the family trauma to reinstate Can Canabach to its former glory?
As Ferran says goodbye to elBulli and Gloria seeks forgiveness, both find in cuisine a way to heal – and begin again.
