Narativ Media, Laxmi TV pick up Indian dramas from One Life Studios

Suryaputra Karn has been picked up by Narativ Media

Narativ Media in Germany and India’s Laxmi TV Gujarati have licensed Indian drama series produced by Mumbai-based One Life Studios.

Narativ Media, set up by former Zee Entertainment global syndication chief Manjyot Sandhu last year, has acquired epic drama series Suryaputra Karn and Devi Adi Parashakti, through a deal with OMNIterra.

Suryaputra Karn retells Indian epic Mahabharata from the perspective of Karna the son of the Sun God, exploring the struggles of one of the epic’s most complex and often misunderstood heroes.

Devi Adi Parashakti (aka The Supreme Power) is set at the beginning of time, when clashes of ego among the Hindu trinity of gods threaten the balance of the cosmos.

Both series were created, written and directed by One Life Studios’ founder and CEO Siddharth Kumar Tewary.

Laxmi TV Gujarati, meanwhile, has picked up a localised Gujarati-language version of historical drama Chandragupta Maurya. Set in 320BC, the series follows a young boy born a prince but raised as a slave whose destiny is to change the course of Indian history.

Tewary said the deals with Narativ and Laxmi TV “reflect the continued international and domestic appeal of these stories.” One Life Studios will present all three series at Mipcom next month.
