Hulu looks forward to Sunny Nights after snapping up Cineflix Rights dramedy

Darkly comedic Australian drama Sunny Nights has been picked up by Hulu

Disney-owned streamer Hulu has picked up US rights to darkly comedic Australian drama Sunny Nights, following a deal with distributor Cineflix Rights.

Hulu will air the series exclusively in the US and has set a March 11 debut for the show, which is produced by Echo Lake Entertainment (The Great) and Jungle Entertainment (Good Cop, Bad Cop).

Will Forte (The Four Seasons) stars as a strait-laced American who teams up with his loose cannon sister, played by The Good Place’s D’Arcy Carden, to set up a spray tan business in Sydney.

But as they attempt to turn their company from a start-up operating out of the back of a van into a multi-million-dollar empire, the siblings become tangled up in Sydney’s criminal underworld. When a ruthless gangster begins to catch up with them, the two must figure out how to stay alive, out of prison and in the black.

Directed and executive produced by Trent O’Donnell (Hacks), the series was created by Nick Keetch and Ty Freer (Almost Paradise). The cast also features Rachel House, Jessica De Gouw, Miritana Hughs, Ra Chapman and Megan Wilding, with Colin From Accounts star Patrick Brammall making a cameo.

Sunny Nights launched on Australian streamer Stan in late December, and has also been picked up by ITV (UK), Bell Media for its English and French services in Canada, Pro-Sieben (Germany), Canal+ (Netherlands), TVNZ (New Zealand), TG4 (Ireland) and Yes (Israel).
