Gunpowder plots series with Florida team

Gunpowder & Sky, the US studio launched by Viacom veteran Van Toffler, is partnering with the creators of feature film The Florida Project on a single-camera scripted comedy series for TV.

The LA-based prodco is teaming up with writers and producers Chris Bergoch and Eric Eckstein and producers Kevin Chinoy and Francesca Silvestri to develop and distribute UnCONventional.

The half-hour comedy series is set inside a convention centre and follows its staff of aspiring actors, writers, models and various other wannabes. The first season of will explore video gaming, reptiles, and bridal expos.

Bergoch is best known for his work on Oscar-nominated movie The Florida Project and 2015’s Tangerine, which he wrote with director Sean Baker and which was shot entirely on iPhones.

The project represents a return to TV comedy for Bergoch and Chinoy, who produced Greg the Bunny spin-off Warren the Ape for MTV before moving into features.
