Fox-owned AVoD platform Tubi is moving further into the creator economy through a new partnership with TikTok.

Under the agreement, the companies will launch a ‘Creatorverse Incubator’ to support selected TikTok creators as they develop original shows that will stream on Tubi.

The chosen creators will develop original series across both scripted and unscripted, with TikTok identifying participants and Tubi supporting the creator’s vision and creative direction. Participants will be announced this summer.

The TikTok partnership marks an expansion of Tubi’s creator-focused efforts. The AVoD platform said it has added more than 16,000 episodes from around 200 creators over the past 10 months.

Tubi’s parent Fox Corp has also made several investments in the creator space over the past year, including the acquisition of podcast studio Red Seat Ventures and the recent launch of Fox Creator Studios, which plans to focus initially on the culinary space before branching into other genres.

The announcement comes ahead of Tubi’s presentation for advertisers at the IAB Newfronts next week.

“Tubi is doubling down on giving creators a real bridge from digital platforms to premium longform storytelling,” said Rich Bloom, the ex-Vimeo exec who joined Tubi last year as general manager of creator programmes and executive VP of business development.

“TikTok has become one of the most powerful engines for discovering creative voices and building passionate communities at scale. This partnership allows us to work with successful TikTok creators who are ready to take the next step creatively, expanding their fandoms to new audiences on Tubi and bringing Tubi fans more stories they can’t find anywhere else.”

Dawn Yang, TikTok’s global head of entertainment partnerships, added: “Our creators have built deeply engaged audiences on TikTok, and our partnership with Tubi will give the next generation of entertainers more opportunities to expand their audiences, tell bigger stories and turn their creativity into lasting impact.”
