eOne enters Secret Location

Canadian producer-distributor Entertainment One (eOne) has taken full ownership of Canuck digital studio Secret Location.

eOne’s purchase of the remaining 50% of Secret Location comes two years after the Peppa Pig owner first took half of the studio to build up its slate of digital assets.

Secret Location was launched in 2009 by James Milward to create interactive content for brands, producers and broadcasters.

Among the company’s current projects is shortform scripted series Halycon for US cablenet Syfy, five episodes of which will launch on the Oculus Rift virtual reality platform.

Last year the company expanded its US presence with an LA office and the appointment of Eric Shamlin, a production veteran from Swedish prodco Stopp, as VP, MD and executive producer.

The acquisition, financial details of which were not disclosed, comes as various entities circle eOne, which last week rejected a US$1bn bid from UK broadcaster ITV.
