In the newly created role, Cazzola will report to ESA’s Australia-based creative director Elliot Spencer and drive the expansion strategy of the company’s English-language originals slate for the US and global markets.

Cazzola joins ESA from Yes Yes Media, where he was a consultant working across the US and UK in development and strategic growth initiatives.

ESA chief executive Peter Newman said attracting the right talent was key to sustaining ESA’s reputation of “building defining versions of multi territory, global formats and original IP that travels.”

Cazzola’s appointment marks a return to the Banijay Group, as he previously served as Endemol Shine North America’s senior VP of unscripted development.

During that time, he developed and sold original series including Deal or No Deal Island and Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge (both for NBC), Foodtastic (Disney+) and Domino Challenge (M6, RTL).

Additionally, he oversaw US adaptations of Banijay Entertainment formats including LEGO Masters (Fox) and Would I Lie To You? (The CW).

“Dan’s exceptional creative vision and proven ability for working with broadcast partners to deliver major original series makes him an outstanding addition to the team,” Neman said.

Cazzola said: “ESA has the best creative team in the business, and I’ve always admired the work they do. Being back at Banijay and working with ESA on their ambitious growth strategy in the US and internationally to build standout original content is incredibly exciting.”
