DQE joins new team for Galactik Football

MIPCOM NEWS: Indian animation house DQ Entertainment (DQE) has teamed up with French indie Gaumont-Alphanim to coproduce a third season of science fiction toon Galactik Football.

DQE, working with subsidiary DQ Entertainment, will start work immediately on the copro, which the partners claim has an estimated production budget of US$10.1m.

The partnership between DQE and Gaumont-Alphanim follows two previous copros, Delta State, and Potatoes and Dragons.

They are also believed to be discussing three further projects, which include a live-action series to be produced by DQE.

Funding for Galactik Football will be raised through broadcast and presales, a strategy DQE employs on most of its productions.

Tapaas Chakravarti, chairman and CEO of DQE, said: “By combining production, distribution, licensing and global networking capabilities we believe today’s announcement is a significant strategic step for DQE but at minimal risk to our business model.”
