CW to close Vortexx

US network The CW is set to cancel its Saban Brands children’s block Vortexx on Saturday mornings and replace it with a set of family-orientated live-action series from CBS Television Distribution.

The new block, branded as One Magnificent Morning, will premiere on The CW this September with 10 half-hour programmes focusing on topics ranging from healthy cooking and fashion to animal care.

Titles include Xpedition Wild, Dog Whisperer, Rock in the Park, The Brady Barr Show, Dr Pol, Taste of Home and Swag, according to the Syndicated Network Television Association.

Vortexx launched on The CW in August 2012, offering programmes such as Power Rangers and toon Yu-Gi-Oh!. Saban acquired the Power Rangers brand in 2010.

The block, which mixes action-adventure and comedy series, also has an online presence that allows audiences to watch shows and play games related to its shows.

Neither The CW nor Saban Brands could be contacted at press time.
