CBC names Zach Marcovici as drama development director following Lea Marin exit

Canada’s CBC has promoted Zach Marcovici to director of drama development following the departure of Lea Marin to Netflix earlier this year.

In his new capacity, Marcovici, who most recently served as the CBC’s executive in charge of drama development, will be charged with overseeing the Canadian pubcaster’s development slate.

Prior to joining the CBC in late 2024, Marcovici was the director of development and production at BentFrame Film & TV, the production outfit set up by Adrienne Mitchell and Cineflix Media in 2022.

Before that, he was a development manager at Back Alley Films, where his credits included working as an associate producer on medical drama Coroner.

Marcovici’s promotion comes three months after Marin left her post as CBC’s director of development to become manager of content at Netflix Canada.

Marin’s departure meant that one of the top development roles in the country was vacant, with Marcovici ultimately landing the position.
