Canadian crime drama Private Eyes West Coast finds US home on The CW

Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson in Private Eyes West Coast

US broadcaster The CW has picked up Canadian crime procedural Private Eyes West Coast ahead of its debut later this year.

The series, produced by Piller/Segan and Lionsgate Canada, is an original series commissioned by Corus Entertainment-owned Canadian broadcaster Global.

It is a spin-off from Private Eyes, a procedural that ran on Global for five seasons from 2016 to 2021.

Like the original, Private Eyes West Coast stars Jason Priestley (Wild Cards) and Cindy Sampson (Supernatural) as detective duo Shade and Angie. The new iteration sees them leaving their PI firm and settling into a new life on the west coast of Canada, but their quiet life is shaken when a night out lands them at the scene of a murder.

The project counts Shawn Piller, Lloyd Segan, Sarah Dodd, Jennifer Kassabian, Jocelyn Hamilton, Darren Giblin and Priestley among the executive producers, with Dodd and Kassabian serving as showrunners. Lionsgate Television handles international sales.
