Prime Video axes SPT, Amazon MGM’s The Boys spin-off Gen V after two seasons

Gen V season two ended six months ago

Prime Video has cancelled its The Boys spin-off series Gen V after two seasons.

The cancellation of the show, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, comes six months after the eight-part second run concluded.

Gen V is one of several titles in The Boys franchise, with prequel series Vought Rising set to debut next year and Prime Video previously releasing an anthology adult animation spin-off The Boys Presents: Diabolical. A further franchise extension, The Boys: Mexico, is also being developed.

Set at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, Gen V follows young-adult superheroes who compete for the institution’s highest ranking and a chance to join The Seven, Vought International’s elite superhero team.

The cancellation comes with the flagship iteration of The Boys in the middle of its fifth and final season. The last episode is scheduled to premiere on May 20.

Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios produce all the shows in the franchise in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures and Original Film.
