BBC commits to Traitors, Celeb Traitors until at least 2030 after ‘runaway success’

The Celebrity Traitors’ finale was watched by 15.4 million viewers

UK public broadcaster the BBC has agreed a three-year deal that will keep hit formats The Traitors and The Celebrity Traitors on BBC One and iPlayer until at least 2030.

Made by Studio Lambert Scotland, The Celebrity Traitors debuted in October last year and was “a runaway success” according to the BBC, with an average audience of 14.9 million across the run with a peak of 15.4 million for the finale.

The BBC said the finale was the top entertainment episode across the whole market since 2016, while the series was number one across all genres and platforms in 2025.

The fourth season of The Traitors, also made by Studio Lambert Scotland, achieved a 12.5 million 28-day average in January this year, up 22% on season three’s 10.3 million. Viewing was driven by iPlayer, which accounted for 6.6 million of the audience (53%), an increase of 28% on the third season.

According to the BBC, it is the second biggest series in the market since the start of 2025, behind only The Celebrity Traitors.

The broadcaster said its “renewed commitment reflects the BBC’s ongoing investment in original, high-impact entertainment that captivates and brings together audiences across the UK by connecting everyone to unmissable content.”
