Amazon, Paramount alum Amy Powell to lead Vice Studios as president

Former Amazon and Paramount executive Amy Powell has been named president of Vice Studios, with co-head Danny Gabai leaving the company and transitioning to a producing deal.

With the appointment, which was first reported by Deadline, Powell will oversee Vice Studios’ creative and commercial strategy, taking charge of development, production and partnerships globally.

In addition to leading the studio, she will also have a hand in Vice’s advertising, digital and branded entertainment initiatives.

Most recently, Powell was head of entertainment marketing for Amazon. Before that, she was co-founder and CEO at Brillstein Entertainment Partners and previously spent around five years as president of Paramount Television.

Powell’s hire marks a key appointment for Vice Studios, which is behind titles such as Gangs of London and documentary Bama Rush, as it looks to reinvent itself after emerging from bankruptcy in 2023.
