BBC Studios expands scripted portfolio with Bristol-based label led by Jenny van der Lande

BBC Studios is launching a Bristol-based scripted label led by creative executive Jenny van der Lande, who will join from ITV Studios-owned Big Talk.

Landed Productions will focus on developing “ambitious and enduring” series that appeal both domestically and internationally, with a boutique, writer-first approach, BBC Studios said.

BBC Studios is the commercial arm of UK pubcaster the BBC. Its scripted labels include Lookout Point, Baby Cow, Firebird Pictures, House Productions, Sid Gentle Films and Clerkenwell Films.

Landed Productions will become the studio’s first scripted label outside London when van der Lande joins in January 2027 from Big Talk, where she has spent the past two years as creative director for drama.

Prior to that, van der Lande led editorial at Brontë Film & TV and Snowed-In Productions. She has developed and executive produced shows including Strike (BBC/HBO Max), Mrs Wilson (BBC/PBS), The Midwich Cuckoos (Sky), You Don’t Know Me (BBC/Netflix), Too Close (ITV), Joan (ITV/The CW) and Possession (Sky Atlantic).

Earlier in her career, van der Lande developed London Spy and You, Me & the Apocalypse for Working Title TV, following more than a decade at the BBC including a Bafta-winning run as series editor on Casualty.

Born, raised and based in Bristol, van der Lande describes herself as a passionate advocate for talent from across the UK.

Van der Lande said: “I’ve been developing TV drama for a long time, but there’s still nothing that makes me happier than the moment a brilliant writer shares a new idea. I can’t quite believe my luck that I’ve been offered the chance to return to the BBC – where I trained – to develop the next generation of dramas from writers I adore.

“It feels like a homecoming, and I can’t wait to build a creative space for world-class British talent to develop their most honest work away from the noise.”
