Drama series Maya, culinary competition 100 Knives lead Banijay’s Mipcom slate

Maya stars Bella Ramsey (left) and Daisy Haggard

Banijay Entertainment has unveiled its first Mipcom slate post-All3Media buyout, with titles including legal drama Reputation, psychological thriller Maya, reality culinary competition 100 Knives and celebrity competition format Last One Standing.

Following the US$8bn merger between Banijay and All3Media, which concluded in July, the slate also combines franchises such as The Traitors, Survivor, Fear Factor and The Circle under one roof for the first time.

Reputation, starring Naomie Harris and Christina Hendricks, leads the English-language scripted line-up. The show is produced by The Forge Entertainment for BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

Also headlining is Maya, which stars Daisy Haggard and Bella Ramsey as a mother and daughter in witness protection. The Channel 4 and Starz series is produced by Two Brothers Pictures.

They are joined by romantic drama Open Water, which comes from Mam Tor Productions and B-Side Productions for BBC One and iPlayer.

Factual drama The Murder of Mr Moonlight, meanwhile, is produced by Conker Pictures and Samson Films in association with Screen Ireland for BBC One, iPlayer and RTÉ.

Returning scripted favourites include Banijay Entertainment’s Rogue Heroes, A Remarkable Place to Die, A Woman of Substance, Bergerac, Midsomer Murders and The Assassin.

Elsewhere on the scripted slate is the reimagining of detective drama Wallander, by Jarowskij/Yellow Bird and Banijay Rights for TV4 and ARD Degeto; Jarowskij/Yellow Bird’s psychological thriller Sarek, for Prime Video; and crime drama Fallen, for TV4 and ZDF from Filmlance. The Man Who Walked Through Walls, from Marathon Studio and Terence Films, is made for France TV, while Authentic Prod’s Cheers to Life! is for TF1.

The format slate is led by reality culinary competition 100 Knives, from Mastiff Sweden, Bunim/Murray Productions and Smart Dog Media for TV4; and Last One Standing, a celebrity endurance challenge co-developed by RTL Creative Unit and SimpelZodiak for Videoland.

Also in formats are The Million Dollar Idea from Endemol Shine Germany for Sat.1, which sees everyday inventors transform ideas into market-ready products, and Nordisk Film TV’s Date Knight for DR P3, in which roleplay creates the chance for genuine connection.

The factual offering is led by Dragonfly’s One Born Every Minute for Channel 4. There are also two Prime Video titles on the slate: Workerbee and City Studio’s football doc A Beautiful Obsession, a behind-the-scenes portrait of Manchester City FC; and fellow sports docuseries Meet the Owens, from Whisper.

Lion TV contributes two more: science documentary Riddled with Plastic (working title) for BBC Two and iPlayer, and The Epstein Files (w/t) for Channel 4.

Banijay Entertainment’s third-party line-up includes cult strategic format Werewolves from StudioCanal and Dreamspark, plus Ninja Warrior from Japan’s TBS.

From Banijay Rights, highlights include Counsels, from Balloon Entertainment for BBC and ZDF; Careless, from Synchronicity Films and Easy Tiger for Stan and Channel 4; The Northumbria Mysteries, from Lonesome Pine for the BBC; and Monarch of the Glen, from Ecosse Films for Channel 5 and PBS Masterpiece, alongside hits All Creatures Great and Small, Black Snow, Maigret and Trigger Point.
