Online content marketplace Vuulr relaunches with new leadership and backing

Ben Flint and Silvia Kusnirova

Online content marketplace Vuulr is relaunching in the US under new management ahead of Mipcom.

The B2B online rights transaction platform for content is returning to the international market with fresh investment and a rebuilt business.

Ben Flint, who co-founded then-Singapore-based Vuulr in 2018, has returned to the new business as chief commercial officer. Fellow co-founder Chris Drumgoole is on board as an advisor and former partner Marc Rashba is also back, advising on business development for the Americas.

Former CEO Ian McKee left the business in 2023 when it closed and is not part of the new team.

Today, Vuulr is chaired by Silvia Kusnirova, a former journalist-turned-strategic communications coach, entrepreneur and philanthropist, who was an original investor in Vuulr. She acquired the business’s assets in 2024 and, at the end of 2025, approached Flint to return and spearhead a new vision for the company.

Throughout 2026, they have been working to create a new business in the US, hire an experienced team and invest in and develop new tech to bring Vuulr back to the market.

The original Vuulr was founded to bring the speed, transparency and cost-savings of e-commerce to the traditionally relationship-driven business of buying and selling content rights, then primarily focused on TV and film properties.

The reincarnated version has moved beyond a marketplace to be a full end-to-end rights transaction platform, with specific AI automation helping to deliver everything from targeted discovery to highly localised delivery.

The new Vuulr platform will launch to the international market at Mipcom in October. Its existing global network includes about 15,000 customers.

Flint said: “The original Vuulr was built around an idea that was arguably ahead of its time: that the international content industry needed its own e-commerce infrastructure. What has changed today is the market around us. Buyers and sellers are under pressure to move faster, find new opportunities, and extract more value from every piece of content they own.”

Kusnirova added: “The market, technology and economics of the content industry have all moved on. Broadcasters, platforms, distributors and producers are operating under unprecedented pressure to do more with less; buyers are searching across a much wider universe of content; rights owners are looking for new ways to monetise catalogues, and creator-led and new forms of content are entering the professional marketplace.

“When you factor in how AI can enhance workflows, accelerate discovery, promotion and communication – for example, matching clients with content – the opportunity today is considerably greater than it was when Vuulr first entered the market.”
