The Cramp Twins to debut in September

Cartoon Network Europe has given a tx date for its latest toon The Cramp Twins, a show which has also landed the kids' network its first ever BBC acquisition deal.

The cabsat network will air the 26×26' show in the UK daily from September 3 in a 16:30 slot, while the rest of Europe gets the show in October. The BBC will air the toon sometime after Cartoon Network's UK feed.

The Cramp Twins is a TV-Loonland, Sunbow Entertainment and Cartoon Network Europe co-production. Directed by Becky Bristow and based on the graphic comic novels by Brian Wood, it is a story of two 10-year-old twins Wayne and Lucien Cramp.

The series follows Wayne's bad tempered exploits and Lucien’s attempts to save himself from his brother's antics and offers a quirky perspective on sibling rivalry.

{While European animation is renowned for its many pre-school successes, primetime hit series have generally come from further afield,{ said the show's exec producer for Cartoon Network, Daniel Leonard.

{We hope that this show will prove to be the first really successful European-produced kids primetime series.{

Though the BBC pick-up is a first for Cartoon Network Europe, its Johnny Bravo was taken by Channel 4, The Powerpuff Girls has been licensed to Channel 5 and ITV took Dexter's Laboratory and Cow & Chicken.
