Webtoon moves into live-action with ‘steamy’ vertical webcomic adaptations

Webcomic-based vertical drama Maybe Meant to Be

Webtoon Entertainment has launched six “steamy” shorform dramas based on some of its most popular webcomics, marking the first live-action content on the platform.

The vertical titles are available in the Short Dramas section of the Webtoon app and include Love Bites, Dirty Deeds and I’ll Marry Your Brother.

Webtoon said the adaptations are based on some of its “steamiest and most popular love stories.”

Each features 40 to 50 one- to two-minute episodes with a limited number of episodes in each series available for free. Viewers then pay for credits that they can use to access the rest of a series.

At launch, the six titles, which also include Swolemates, Maybe Meant to Be and Rules for Dating Trash, are available on the company’s English- and French-language platforms.

The titles are all based on existing webcomics available on Webtoon, which owns leading webnovel platform Wattpad.
