New York-based FilmRise has carved out a niche for itself as a distributor of film and TV series via the likes of Amazon Prime, Roku, Pluto TV and Tubi, as well as its own portfolio of ad-supported streaming channels.

The firm offers around 30,000 titles, acquiring content from around the world and using its own algorithms to determine untapped market opportunities.

Co-founder and CEO Danny Fisher spoke to Oli Hammett about its strategy and why lean-back or free ad-supported TV (FAST) channels are the future.

Spanish production company Onza, known for dramas such as TVE’s Little Coincidences and the Department of Time, has recently branched out into the US Hispanic and Latin American markets via a new Miami base.

The company has partnered with former Fox exec Emiliano Calemzuk to launch the venture and Onza CEO Gonzalo Sagardia spoke with Oli Hammett about the move and how the company plans to compete with major players in these regions, as well as the rise of Spanish-language content internationally.
