The Chase spin-off, Celebrity Escape headline ITV Studios’ Mipcom format slate

The Chase Around the World

ITV Studios will be at Mipcom next week with 10 new titles on its formats slate including The Chase Around the World and Celebrity Escape.

The Chase Around the World (6×60’, produced by Bright Entertainment for ITV) is a new city-hopping treasure hunt spin-off from ITV gameshow The Chase.

The six-part series sees six pairs of contestants attempt to track down all six of The Chasers from the original show in undisclosed locations around Europe. Unravelling puzzles along the way, the winning pair will pit their knowledge against The Chasers in a bid to win a cash prize.

Also new to the slate, following its launch in Sweden, is endurance experiment show Expedition into the Wild (12×60’, produced by ITV Studios Sweden for Kanal 5).

Eight celebrity city dwellers with almost no survival skills are dropped into a remote natural environment for 18 days. Paired up with only basic tools, limited food and each other to rely on, they must build shelter, source supplies and tackle survival challenges where every win could change their fate.

Perpetual Entertainment’s exsape room format Celebrity Escape

From Perpetual Entertainment comes Celebrity Escape (6×60’, for Three in New Zealand), in which seven competitive comedians take on escape rooms.

New food-entertainment series Next on the Menu (4×60’, for Channel 4) from South Shore follows four food superfans as they battle to create the next menu hit for a global brand, ranging from Wagamama and KFC to Taco Bell and Krispy Kreme.

Also new to the slate, Apocalypse (8×60’) is a social experiment format from The Garden and ITV Studios Australia for Channel 4 and Binge down under.

The series sees 16 ordinary people enter a real abandoned town that bears all the hallmarks of being ravaged by an apocalyptic event. With no running water, heating or electricity, they must survive for 28 days, scavenging for food and supplies and reusing and repurposing anything they find.

BBC nature doc Secret Garden (5×60’, produced by Plimsoll Studios) also joins ITV Studios’ formats slate. Each episode follows one garden over an extended period, capturing dramatic and rarely seen animal behaviour.

How to Clean Up for Cash (6×30’, produced by MultiStory Media for ITV) sees loved ones secretly seek help for a family member or friend whose clutter has taken over their home.

Based on the iconic US gameshow that debuted on NBC in 1953, Name That Tune (9×60’, produced by Bright Entertainment for ITV) is returning to the UK in 2027 after 29 years off the air.

The Ultimate Summer Star (24×30’, produced by Magga og Anders and ITV Studios Denmark for TV2 Echo) is a spin-off from Norwegian format The Ultimate Christmas Star.

Finally, The Joy of Pets (5×60’, for ITV), made by Bandicoot, is a warm-hearted factual entertainment format celebrating the extraordinary bond between people and their animals.

ITVS also unveiled its unscripted/factual slate for Mipcom today, led by 70 Up, the final 2×90’ instalment of the 7 Up series which has followed the lives of 14 ordinary people from birth.

Another Plimsoll Studios nature series, World’s Wildest Cities (6×60’) is included, along with Ages of Ice (3×60′), from Northern Pictures for PBS in the US and ABC in Australia. Narrated by actor David Tennant, the series follows the brave scientists pushing the boundaries of exploration and human endeavour in Earth’s coldest corners.

New to the slate from Wonderhood Studios is docuseries Jesus Christ: The Man, The Mystery (4×60, for BBC), which draws on the latest historical research, archaeological discoveries, technological innovation and expert testimony.

And finally, Spy Next Door: The Anna Chapman Story (2×60′, for Channel 4), from Curious Films, features access to people caught up in the Russian espionage network as well as FBI operatives and former Russian insiders.
