StudioCanal expands reach of Spanish daily drama The Vow across CEE
The Vow was created by Josep Cister Rubio
Buyers from across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) have acquired daily drama The Vow (491×52’) in deals with European production and distribution group StudioCanal.
The Vow will soon air on public broadcasters TVP in Poland, ERR in Estonia and LTV in Latvia. Previously announced CEE broadcasters, including HRT in Croatia, KTV in Kosovo and LRT in Lithuania, have already aired the first season and are committed to future seasons.
Outside CEE, partners such as Mediaset in Italy, Dori Media in Israel and YLE in Finland have acquired all three seasons. Additionally, the drama has secured new deals with Dubai TV for the MENA region and Canal+ Group’s free-to-air TV channel C8 in France, where it is set to premiere next month.
Produced by StudioCanal-owned Bambú Producciones for TVE in Spain, the show spans 491 episodes across three seasons. The series, known as La Promesa in Spain, was created by Josep Cister Rubio, recognised for works like Acacias 38 and Dos Vidas.
The Vow is set in the early 20th century in Southern Spain. The storyline follows a maid at the declining yet ruthless House of Luján, as she seeks vengeance for her mother’s murder, only to find herself unexpectedly falling in love with the Count of Luján’s son.
Production on the third season is underway, featuring a cast that includes Ana Garcés, Arturo Sancho, Eva Martín, Manuel Regueiro, María Castro and Antonio Velázquez.
“CEE continues to be a vibrant market for daily series, with The Vow appealing to many and attracting loyal audiences across the region,” said Sarah Mottershead, VP of sales at StudioCanal.
Zane Valeniece, head of acquisitions at LTV, added: “LTV broadcasts high-quality telenovelas at 10.30am from Monday to Friday, and it’s also important content on the LTV digital platform. The show, with its rich storyline, amazing actors, and stunning filming locations, provides an exciting and strong daily habit for the audience.”
