Streamer MagellanTV takes FAST channel True Crime Now into the US

True Crime Now, the free ad-supported TV (FAST) channel from documentary-focused streamer MagellanTV, is expanding into the US market.

The channel has launched on streaming apps Local Now and Plex, which are accessed via Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Xfinity, Vizio, Samsung, Android and iOS devices.

Its US debut comes two months after the New York-based company launched True Crime Now in Canada via The Roku Channel.

The FAST channel offering, which features more than 1,000 true crime series and documentary films, also launched previously in the UK through Amazon’s AVoD offering IMDb TV.

Feature-length and series docs carried on True Crime Now include Murder in Paradise, Til’ Death Do Us Part, Evolution of Evil, Behind Bars: The World’s Toughest Prisons, Psychic Investigators, Boogeymen: Monsters Among Us, Nightclub Killer and Crimes That Made History.

“True Crime Now has already received a great reception abroad, and we’re excited to bring it to the US,” said MagellanTV managing director Greg Diefenbach.

“The new channel allows our team to curate a dynamic and compelling line-up of true crime docuseries and features, all hand-picked from MagellanTV’s library.”

MagellanTV moved into originals around two years ago and has produced around 20 projects in the time since, including Other Earths: The Search for Habitable Planets, which examines new theories about how planets form and evolve.
