StarzPlay brings Four Weddings to UK

Four Weddings & a Funeral has been co-written by Mindy Kaling

StarzPlay, the streaming service from Lionsgate-owned cablenet Starz, has acquired the rights to Mindy Kaling’s series adaptation of classic rom-com movie Four Weddings & a Funeral in the UK.

Having launched in the US in July on streamer Hulu, the 10-part series will have its UK premiere on StarzPlay on December 12.

Four Weddings & a Funeral is produced by MGM Television and Universal Television, with MGM serving as the lead studio. It is based on the 1994 Richard Curtis feature film and follows Maya (Natalie Emmanuel), a communications director in New York, who returns to London for a friend’s wedding where she reconnects with old acquaintances and gets embroiled in their personal crises.

Distributed by MGM Worldwide Television Distribution, the anthology series has been co-created and written by Kaling (The Mindy Project, The Office) and Matt Warburton, who also serve as executive producers.

Producers of the series include Eric Koljan, Chris Schleicher and Abby Ajayi.
