Siesta Entertainment picks up sales rights to Puerto Rican preschool show

Rockolandia Las Cabritas is a revival of 80s show Rock’O’Landia

Barcelona-based animation distribution and brand development company Siesta Entertainment has acquired the worldwide sales rights to Puerto Rican musical preschool series Rockolandia Las Cabritas.

Created by Dakiti Productions, Rockolandia Las Cabritas follows seven little goats who sing, dance and use their wits and teamwork to foil the clumsy big bad wolf’s plans. The self-contained adventures blend humour and music with stories about family, friendship and self-confidence.

The series is a revival of 80s live-action show Rock’O’Landia, created by the family of Dakiti’s CEO Cristina Carrión.

According to Siesta, the new animated revival has reached more than 170 million cumulative views on YouTube and brought in 234,000 subscribers to the channel and over 250,000 followers across platforms.

Siesta will showcase the series to buyers at Mipcom, starting with those in the US, Puerto Rico, Latin America and Spain, before expanding around the world.

The first season of Rockolandia Las Cabritas (10×11’) is in Spanish and features two original songs per episode. A second season of 26×11’ episodes is planned for development in the coming months.

KaizenPop, a shareholder in Dakiti, co-manages the brand and will also coproduce season two.

Carrión said: “Rock’O’Landia was created by my family in the 1980s for a Puerto Rican audience. I am incredibly proud to have revived Rockolandia for the new global generations. With Siesta at our side, the magic of Rockolandia will have the opportunity to reach children around the world, via its enchantment and cultural authenticity.”
