Rondo Media adds to sport, digital teams following Dawes-Hughes departure

L-R: Catrin Morris, Gethin Hughes and Louise Sutton

Welsh independent production company Rondo Media has made three appointments across its sport, digital and post-production teams.

Gethin Hughes has been appointed director of sports content and will join Rondo later this year. An experienced broadcast director, Hughes has directed coverage of Wales men’s and women’s international football matches and FA Cup fixtures for the BBC. He has also directed and produced coverage of the United Rugby Championship for Premier Sports, S4C and the BBC.

Hughes will join the senior management team of Rondo’s sport department to expand the company’s sport output and build on its established football brand Sgorio.

It comes as Seiriol Dawes-Hughes joins Welsh pubcaster S4C as sports commissioner after 18 years at Rondo, where he was an executive producer.

Rondo said Dawes-Hughes had made “an invaluable contribution” to the company over the years and was “delighted to see him take on such a key role in shaping the future of Welsh sports content.”

Rondo has also added Catrin Morris as digital content development producer, a role focused on developing new content and strategies for digital audiences. Morris brings experience across television production, live events and digital projects. Her credits include Channel 4’s Married at First Sight and S4C documentary Cymru ar Daith: Ewros y Menywod, which followed the Wales women’s football team at the Euros.

Morris is already leading a team of creatives at Rondo, helping to strengthen the company’s digital offering and develop new opportunities across platforms.

In addition, Louise Sutton has joined Rondo as post-production producer, bringing extensive experience in television post-production. Sutton has previously worked at BBC Wales and with teams at Gorilla, Splice and Bad Wolf, where she was post-production supervisor for Doctor Who.

Rondo CEO Gareth Williams said: “The appointments of Catrin, Gethin and Louise bring new skills and experience to the company, while Seiriol’s success is a testament to the strength of talent that has developed here at Rondo over the years. We look forward with confidence to the opportunities ahead, as we continue to create ambitious, creative and innovative content for audiences in Wales and beyond.”
