RMVistar looking for partners for biopic series on music star Milly Quezada

CONTENT AMERICAS: RMVistar, the LA distributor that brought Argentinian miniseries La Chica que Limpia to Fox in the US as The Cleaning Lady, is seeking partners for its latest project, a biopic about Dominican merengue superstar Milly Quezada.

Rose Marie Vega

Company president Rose Marie Vega said the project, originally intended to be a movie, is currently in production and will likely end up as a series, given the breadth of the story.

Four-time Latin Grammy winner Quezada was born in Santo Domingo and moved to New York as a child where she found fame as a singer in the 1970s, going on to take her music round the world. She has been dubbed the ‘Queen of Merengue,’ a style of Dominican music and dance.

Vega said the drama would be a story of survival and ambition, about a Latina who achieved her dreams.

“There are not many Latina women who have had this level of success and we’re proud to be working with this living legend. It’s another Spanish-language project that is the perfect Latinx story.”

RMVistar, alongside the Gersh Agency, is awaiting news about a third season of The Cleaning Lady, coproduced by Warner Bros and Fox Entertainment, and is currently in negotiations over adaptations in India, Spain and Germany.

La Chica que Limpia is a 2017 crime miniseries directed by Lucas Combina and created by Paola Suarez, Irene Gissara, Greta Molas and Lucas Combina. The 13×30′ series was produced by Jaque Content, stars Antonella Costa and aired on Cinear Play and Channel 10.
