RisingJoy using AI to create 30 vertical anime titles labelled RJOY Originals

Locked Away I Became Unbreakable is among the six completed titles

Singapore-based microdrama studio RisingJoy is using AI to make and release 30 new vertical anime titles by the end of the first quarter of 2027, having already delivered the first six.

The six anime titles completed under the RJOY Originals banner are Addicted to the Dark Boss, Hide My Secret in the Moonlight, In the Devil’s Hand, Last Order from the Revenge Club, Locked Away I Became Unbreakable and Modern Cinderella Behind the Lies. Four more will follow by the end of 2026 and two will arrive in January 2027, the company said.

RisingJoy said the titles are developed and directed by its own creative team, with AI production tools used “to reach a scale and cadence that conventional animation cannot support at shortform budgets.”

It comes as RisingJoy builds its original content business alongside its existing licensing operation, which sees it distribute microdramas through a network of more than 50 platforms in over 40 countries.

RisingJoy has also signed a framework MoU with NTT DOCOMO Studio & Live covering the international distribution of the Japanese company’s vertical content, including its anime slate. Titles may be licensed on a non-exclusive, title-by-title basis, with terms agreed separately for each release.

Produced in Japanese and English, they are already running on the RJOY branded service in Indonesia and Malaysia through the IDN App and Sooka, the streaming service operated by Astro, where they have ranked among the top 10 titles by views on both platforms.

Cassandra Yang, co-founder and CEO of RisingJoy, said: “Most successful vertical series today are live-action and vertical anime is still an underdeveloped category.

“We read that as an opportunity rather than a limitation. Our own data shows the anime audience is narrower for now, but those viewers are more loyal, more engaged and more attached to the characters, and that is what franchises are built on. This is a strategic category for us, not an experiment.”
