Reed replaces Greif at Thinkfactory

L to R: Adam Reed, David George and Leslie Greif

ITV America has taken full control at US-based producer Thinkfactory Media and named a replacement for founder Leslie Greif, who is stepping down to launch a new company.

Adam Reed becomes CEO of Thinkfactory, 65% of which was acquired by ITV in 2013 in a deal valued at around US$30m.

The UK commercial broadcaster has now extended that deal to take full control of the prodco, which was launched by Greif in 1992 as The Greif Company. The outfit was behind shows including drama Hatfield & McCoys for History in the US.

Greif is now preparing to launch a new entertainment venture, with further details yet to be revealed.

Reed has been with Thinkfactory for 14 years and was named president of the company in 2016 by then-CEO Greif. Reed has worked on shows including WE tv’s Mama June: From Not to Hot, A&E’s Gene Simmons Family Jewels and Lifetime’s biopic Surviving Compton: Dre, Suge & Michel’le.

ITV America CEO David George said Thinkfactory was now “beautifully positioned to embark with ITV America on its next chapter and we’re extremely bullish on the future.”

Reed added that he would aim to “grow Thinkfactory into its next iteration during a time of unprecedented opportunity in the content business.”

Greif gave away few details about his plans but said he was going “full tilt into the future.”

Earlier this year ITV America named Adam Sher as its new president and promoted David Eilenberg to chief creative officer, following the exit of former CEO Brent Montgomery.
