Raúl López Palomar to head Mediaset España programming after Unai Iparragirre exit

Mediaset España has appointed Raúl López Palomar as head of programming to replace Unai Iparragirre, who resigned at the beginning of July after seven months in the role.

The Spanish audiovisual group, owned by MediaForEurope, has promoted López Palomar from his previous position as programming director of its second channel, Cuatro.

López Palomar will report directly to Mediaset España’s television division leadership, taking on the role at a time of sustained audience decline for the group. Cuatro, however, has bucked that trend, closing its best season in eight years in June.

Iparragirre became head of programming at Mediaset España in December 2025, having left his position running Basque public broadcaster EITB.

López Palomar joined Mediaset España in September 2009 as programming director for FDF, moving up to the same role at Cuatro in 2013 – a position he held until this promotion.

His previous roles include head of programming and acquisitions at Paramount Comedy, acquisitions manager at MTV Spain and programming coordinator at Antena 3.
